Meet The Specialists
Katie Blum, Licensed Professional Counselor, has a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Katie received her B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. She has experience working with children and adolescents with a variety of presenting clinical concerns including anxiety, emotion regulation difficulties, disruptive behavior problems, attention-deficit issues, and depression. Katie has experience working with clients in a practice setting as well as various educational environments within school districts in the Western suburbs. She has extensive experience leading and co-leading group therapies focused on the treatment of anxiety, depression, and social skills issues.
Katie’s approach to therapy utilizes empirically supported assessment and treatment methods with children, adolescents and their families. She has experience applying cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, parent management training, and social skills training to a variety of clinical concerns. Katie believes that therapy is most effective by building positive and trusting relationships with clients and their families; she is excited to work with clients to develop an individualized treatment plan in order to address their most pressing concerns. Katie believes strongly in collaborating with other healthcare professionals and school personnel in order to ensure well-rounded treatment outcomes for clients and their families. In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with friends and family— including her two dogs—and playing tennis.
