Lisa Lake, LCSW

Lisa Lake, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, has worked with children and families for over 20 years. The majority of her experience has been focused on elementary and middle school aged children with varying levels of need. Lisa believes that social emotional development includes lifelong skills that are critical for all people.  Anyone can encounter a bump in the road and might benefit from additional support to move through the developmental phase successfully. In addition, she believes that all children benefit from having a positive support system, opportunities to find and develop strengths, and a community to which they belong. Lisa also has a great deal of experience working with children with more specific needs including, but not limited to, social skill difficulties, autism, anxiety, depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, emotional regulation, self-esteem, school avoidance, learning difficulties, challenging behaviors, and life stressors. Lisa uses a broad range of techniques when working with children and is well versed in research supported practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and professionally respected practices, such as Social Thinking.

Lisa has 2 boys of her own and is familiar the challenges that come with parenting. She understands that all children are unique and have their own strengths and needs. Lisa works from a Family Systems Perspective and understands that parents and families have the most significant impact on child development. While working with your child, she will also provide support to strengthen family systems.

Through her many years as a School Social Worker, Lisa has gained a broad knowledge of the educational system. She is proficient in the processes and legal requirements of Response to intervention (Problem Solving), 504 Plans, and Individualized Education Plans (IEP). Children spend a large percentage of time at school and it is important that all systems in a child’s life are working together.

Lisa knew from early on she was meant to be a social worker. She earned her Associates Degree through Joliet Junior College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Psychology from the University of St. Francis, and a Master of Social Work Degree from The George Williams College of Social Work at Aurora University. She loves spending time outdoors and going on adventures with her family and friends. Lisa also enjoys yoga, biking, movies, reading, church activities, volunteering, and is always open to learning and trying something new.
